Monday's Quotes

When you dance,
your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor.
It's to enjoy each step along the way.
~Wayne Dyer

Happy Birthday, Tasha

Tasha Tudor, one of my favorite illustrators of children's books,
would have been 100 today.
Happy Birthday in remembrance of the few minutes
in time that I got to stand and visit with you.

Seeing Tasha making dipped candles brings
back many memories of all the years I made hand dipped candles
I love how she lived making so many things for her home.

Happy Birthday, Tasha Tudor!

Happy Weekend, dear friends.

Just Because

Did you know today was "Just Because" day?
Me either.
So "Just Because" I am sharing what I wake up to everyday.
I just love these silhouettes of leisure days, of days gone-by.
Some are painted on the glass and some are paper cuts.
They do make me smile.

The email I got in the mail today telling me it was "Just Because" day
said to share a random act of kindness "Just Because".
Do you think my neighbors want more plums, just because?
Now I am thinking, who knows where that will take me.
Go out and share "Just Because".

Joey Sighting

A Joey sighting.
He even posed just for you.
No hat or costume.
haiku-Joey

Joey often follows me around, especially in the mornings.
This is my common view with my morning tea.
Right at this moment he is sitting nearby watching
for squirrels, birds, and one black cat.

"The Chair"

"The Chair" as we have called it for a very long time,
over 30 years in fact, was found at an estate sale.
I fell in love with the shape and just knew it could be
brought to it's glory.
Over the years it has lived with my daughter and son in a house
they rented full of cats.
Most of all it sat in our garage waiting to be rejuvenated
while moths and other vermin attacked it.
The bottom was falling to the ground, the springs were sprung,
as you can see it was a mess.
Finally it's day has come.
Ta Da!
"The Chair" in it's new life.
 The texture of the fabric.
Over the 30+ years I had so many ideas for it,
but in the end something simple I could dress in many colors.
The chair is happy!

Monday's Quotes

Logic will take you from A to B;
Imagination will take you everywhere.
~Einstein

While I was away yesterday sipping tea with friends
the littlest in the family decided there would
be a tea party for the fairies.
While no one was looking he found my fairy tea set
and off he went right here to serve tea to the fairy people.
There were teacups sitting on the ground and a donut
on the roof.  Now two desserts must certainly
have been nibbled by those fairies for they are no
where to be found.  What a tea party that must
have been.

Oh the places imagination can take us!

Goodnight Sleeptight

The Blue Moon on July 31st.
Did your mother ever say:
Good night, Sleep tight
Don't let the bed bugs bite
If they do, bite them in two.
That's the way the monkey's do.

My mother always said that, such fond memories of words spoken.

I live near the Columbia River, so it wasn't much of a journey to venture
out on a full moon evening in summer to take photos of the moon.
Walking back to my car I snapped this photo and actually ended up
liking it better than the moon.
Would you like spending your nights under the light of the moon
in a houseboat on the river?
I wonder if the gentle lap of the water nearby would lull us to sleep.
Would it be a gentle ride or wild on a stormy night?
Sometimes I dream of nights such as these floating on the river.

But for now I will say, have a dear, sweet night of sleep.
Good night and Sleep tight.

Happy weekend, dear friends.

Outdoor Bathing

Under the moonlight, I dream!
Sitting in a tub warmed by the fire, I soak.
Bubbles surround me.
Stars delight me.
The scent of roses from the garden enchant me.
The silence of the night soothes my soul.
I am a water girl.
I dream of such an experience in a tub such as this.
What could be more perfect than sitting
in a tub full of warm water and the sounds and scents of the night.
Do you hear the crickets nearby?
Are there frogs croaking out a song for you?
Can you imagine the warmth of the night?
Dream a little dream with me.

Tea by the Sea

 Twin Rocks, Oregon

If I haven't been to the sea by this time of year,
I begin dreaming of just such an adventure.
Taking my tea, I will go to the sea.
I will savor the roar of the waves
as I sit there in silence.
The warmth that surrounds me
will envelop me with peace.
There will be a smile on my lips
as I sip tea by the sea.

Monday's Quotes

"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves,
like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue.
Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not
be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything.
Live the questions now.
Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it,
live along some distant day into the answer."

~ Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters to a Young Poet

PS - Sending my Monday quote early as I will be away on Monday.
Have a good day!

Plums from the Garden

 Up the ladder I go.
The plum tree is loaded this year.
Not sure what I will do with all of them.
Plum chutney was made just yesterday.
It is a new recipe, so I won't share until I know it is good.
The chutney recipe says to let it age for a month.
Today the dehydrator will be loaded to make prunes.
Oh the delights of harvest time.
Soon I will be totally buried in plums.
Then tomatoes are coming,
but many of those I have been putting out for neighbors.
Maybe the plums will go there too, that is if I run
out of ideas.
There is still a plum tart and plum jam to make,
plus we can always use alot of prunes.
How much fun it is to be able to pick from our garden.

Happy weekend, dear friends.

Healing in our Planet World

Sitting here this morning over my cup of tea and toast,
enjoying the words written of a young girl growing up in India.
The Midnight Rose by Lucinda Riley, a book worth reading.
A different time, a different world.
My heart was in prayer for those in different parts of the world.
Tears came to my eyes as I prayed for hurts, illness, and strife.
I was reminded to also pray for our past president, Jimmy Carter.
So many suffer from cancer, an illness that must be cured.
Cancer also is like hatred that eats away at so many.
My prayer today is that what ever form of cancer, may it be an
illness or of hatred, be healed from our planet world.

Please join me over your cup of tea to pray for
 our planet world and healing.

Small Treats

Isn't this the perfect paper cut for a tea lady?

Vintage red embroidery recently found at my favorite "fairy shop".
It says "Splish Splash" and has birds splashing in a bird bath.
Now it covers the pillow on the bed awaiting a guest in my office/bedroom.
I love the small treats found recently at a side walk sale at Bella Flora.
Just what I wanted, though I didn't know it until I saw them.
Small treats are the best.

Do you love finding "small treats"?

The secret to a happy life is continuous small treats.

Purple and Black

You really can't see it clearly, but I like the silhouette.
Morning tea time looking out my office window.
A special new teacup sits in my cupboard.
It came just days ago.
It has been initiated with a special black tea.
Lochan Tea, Doke Black Fusion,
a very nice morning tea.

On the bottom of the saucer it says:
Romantic England
Holy Trinity Church
Stratford-on-Avon
on the cup
Anne Hathaway's Cottage
Shottery
J.&G.Meakin, England

Quite a lot is said on that little saucer,
but it delighted me to have photos
on my first purple transferware teacup and saucer
of places I have visited.

5 Facts about Me

Susanna Conway hosts The August Break every summer with trigger words.
I have been playing on Flickr with this fun event.
Today's post was suppose to be 5 Facts about Me in a picture.
I was having a hard time figuring that one out until I looked over
at the table in my office.
In one picture just from what was on the table I found the 5 Facts.

1. I have a magazine addiction.
2. I have written two books and working on a third.
3. Love tea.
4. Love words.
5. Love to plan travel and then take travel adventures.
Can you tell where I am planning for next year?

How fun was that!
I was amazed at myself to find my loves right in one place.

Happy weekend, dear friends.
Look around you and be amazed and delighted.

Clearing your mind for SLEEP

When you can't calm down from the days activities
and your mind is running so fast you are not able to shut it down to sleep,
what do you do?
One night recently was such a night for me.
Yes, I could take drugs to help me sleep.
I sometimes get up and read until I can't keep my eyes open.
What works the best is to imagine the sound of the sea,
feel the gentle breezes or the warmth of the sun,
and picture myself laying on the sand or in a hammock tied between two palm trees.
The sway of the hammock, the feel of the breeze and warm sun, and the sound
of the sea does it everytime.

So what do you do?
What works like magic just for you?

Moonlight Tea

Dancing by the light of the full moon just a couple days ago
the fairies sipped their tea.
They captured the moonlight in their cup and savored quite delightedly.
Cake was there to partake
just outside their door.
So whether you are dancing and sipping tea with the fairies
or sitting at your kitchen table.
I hope you have been able to capture moonlight in your cup
and danced with the fairies.

If you want to find some moonlight for your cup
www.lochantea.com has a delightful
Thurbo Moonlight Darjeeling,
which I am enjoying today.

Monday's Quotes

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining,
the breeze is blowing,
the birds are singing and
the lawn mower is broken.
~J.Dent

And popscicle is in hand!
Popscicles are a main stay in my freezer this year.
Mix half and half of fruit juice and coconut water,
put in popscicle form and freeze.
